Damilola Olayemi, the widow of late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, has reportedly agreed to have her husband buried at his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, following days of controversy over his final resting place.

The decision comes after a disagreement between her and the singer’s family over where he should be laid to rest.

It will be recalled that the family, in a viral online interview, alleged that the 32-year-old widow rejected the plan to bury Toluwanisings at their family home in Ibadan, saying she preferred that he be buried in a cemetery.

However, the singer’s father opposed the suggestion, insisting that his son should be taken to his hometown and buried beside his late mother if he could not be laid to rest at his Ibadan residence.

The disagreement sparked widespread reactions on social media, with some users questioning the widow’s position and calling for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the singer’s death.

But in an Instagram video on Sunday, Lanre Alewilese, a close associate and colleague of the late singer, disclosed that the disagreement had been resolved, with Damilola agreeing to the home burial.

Alewilese described the dispute as a misunderstanding and appealed to Nigerians to stop attacking the widow, saying she was already going through a difficult period.

“Please, for God’s sake, let peace reign. Damilola is very young for what she’s currently going through. I’m very close to the deceased; his wife is accommodating. All his band members can attest to this.

“The disagreement between Toluwanisings’ father and his widow has been resolved. What happened was just a misunderstanding. The duo have agreed to bury Toluwanisings at his house. Please, Nigerians, let there be peace. If you truly love the singer, let his wife have peace now that his burial place has been resolved,” he said.
