Claim: A website circulating online under the name “APC Campaign Support” claims to offer financial assistance to Nigerians, requiring applicants to submit their bank account details and share the link with friends or WhatsApp groups to qualify.

Verdict: False

Background

A website circulating on social media and messaging platforms is claiming to offer financial support to Nigerians under the name of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The website, accessible through https://shrlnk.site/Apc-campaign-support, invites interested applicants to participate in what appears to be a party-sponsored financial assistance programme.

However, the authenticity of the initiative has been questioned because of the absence of any official announcement from the APC and the website’s demand for applicants’ banking information.

To establish the authenticity of the offer, we examined the website, the party’s official communication channels and its existing online presence.

Verification

Checks revealed that the website operates through the domain shrlnk.site, which was registered on July 15, 2026, making it less than four months old.

Although the recent registration of a domain does not independently establish fraud, the website has no verifiable connection to the APC’s established online presence.

The party’s official website, https://www.apc.com.ng/, was registered in 2013. A review of its website, including its news and press release sections, revealed no announcement about the purported financial support programme.

Similarly, checks across the APC’s official social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn, did not reveal any announcement endorsing the initiative.

Further examination of the application process showed that the website requires applicants to provide their bank account details before instructing them to share the link with at least 15 friends or five WhatsApp groups.

This method of collecting personal financial information and making link-sharing a condition for participation is consistent with tactics commonly associated with phishing websites and fraudulent online giveaways.

Other websites advertising similar financial relief offers were also identified, including:

https://gifmi.site/opay-50k-relief
https://linkurlpro.com/relief
https://billnova.online/fg50k

The existence of these similar websites further highlights the need for caution when responding to unsolicited financial assistance offers.

What does the law say?

Section 125 of Nigeria’s Electoral Act 2026 criminalises bribery and conspiracy involving the corrupt offer or acceptance of money, gifts or other benefits intended to influence electoral decisions.

Section 131 also prohibits the corrupt payment or acceptance of money intended to influence a person’s voting decision.

However, whether a particular financial offer violates these provisions depends on evidence establishing an electoral inducement. The suspicious collection of bank details alone does not automatically constitute an electoral offence.

Conclusion

Findings show that there is no verifiable evidence linking the website shrlnk.site/Apc-campaign-support to the All Progressives Congress.

The party has made no announcement about the purported financial support programme on its official website or recognised social media platforms.

Furthermore, the website’s demand for bank account details and compulsory sharing of its link raises serious concerns about the safety of applicants’ personal information.

Therefore, the claim that the website represents an official APC campaign support initiative is false. Nigerians are advised not to submit their banking information or circulate the link.
