Oyo State Governor and African Democratic Congress (APM) presidential candidate, Seyi Makinde, has criticised President Bola Tinubu over his trip to Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigeria, saying the country’s leaders should tell Nigerians the true state of affairs.

Makinde, while speaking at the Makinde/Daura South – East townhall meeting, said Nigerians could also pray for the country and its leaders without travelling abroad, stressing that the responsibility of praying for Nigeria was not limited to the President.

Stop all these deceits – Makinde

Reacting to Tinubu’s trip, Makinde said, “I saw on social media that President Bola Tinubu is traveling to Saudi Arabia to pray for Nigeria. Well, we will stay here, we will pray for Nigeria, we will also pray for our leaders, because Nigeria belongs to all of us.”

He urged the country’s leaders to stop what he described as deceit and be honest with Nigerians about the country’s situation.

“They should stop all the deceits and tell Nigeria the exact, true situation of things, so that as we are praying, our prayers will not be in vain,” the governor said.

Makinde added that Nigeria’s progress would benefit everyone, regardless of their position or status.

“Like I always say, when the tide is high, all the boats will rise,” he said.
