Former Oyo State First Lady and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria, Dr Florence Ajimobi; Senator Teslim Folarin; former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu; Senator Abdulfatai Buhari; and APC chieftain, Barrister Akeem Agbaje, have held talks in what could signal a fresh push to resolve internal divisions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, disclosed by Folarin in a Facebook post on Thursday, focused on what he described as “genuine reconciliation”, inclusive leadership and collective efforts to reorganise, reposition and strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

The engagement comes amid lingering disagreements within the state chapter of the party, particularly following the emergence of Senator Sharafadeen Alli as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.

The development had generated discontent among some party leaders and stakeholders, with concerns about the level of their participation in activities geared towards the party’s governorship campaign.

Although some of the aggrieved figures have publicly expressed commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, their involvement in activities supporting the APC governorship candidate has remained a subject of concern within the party.

Folarin, however, said the latest discussions were aimed at building a united, stronger and more formidable APC ahead of the elections.

The meeting may represent a renewed effort by the party’s prominent stakeholders to bridge their differences, strengthen internal cohesion and present a common front as the 2027 electoral contest approaches.

It remains unclear whether the discussions produced any concrete agreement on the outstanding disagreements or a commitment by the participants to jointly mobilise support for all the party’s candidates.
