A disagreement over roasted meat has reportedly turned fatal in Adamawa State, after a 28-year-old man allegedly stabbed his 21-year-old neighbour to death in Mubi North Local Government Area.

The suspect, identified as Ibrahim Augustine, was arrested by the police following the incident, which occurred at Mararaban Vimtim on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

The Adamawa State Police Command said the victim, Haggai Markus, was allegedly stabbed in the chest during an argument over roasted meat taken from a butcher’s table.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroji, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, saying the incident was reported to the police at about 8:45pm by the deceased’s father, Markus Gabo.

According to the police, the disagreement escalated when Augustine allegedly brought out a knife and stabbed Markus in the chest.

Police operatives attached to the Mubi North Division were said to have visited the scene after receiving the report, where they found the victim lying dead in a pool of blood.

A knife suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered as an exhibit, while the suspect was arrested and taken into custody.

The victim’s remains were evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, Mubi, where a doctor confirmed him dead.

Nguroji said the suspect and the case diary would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, commiserated with the victim’s family and assured them that justice would be served.

He also urged residents to resolve disagreements peacefully and report disputes to the police rather than resorting to violence.
