A member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Sunday Olugbenga Falana, has resigned his appointment, adding to the growing number of officials leaving the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Falana, who hails from Ogbomoso, announced his decision in a letter dated Monday, November 2, 2026, addressed to Governor Makinde through the Chief of Staff.
The resignation takes immediate effect, according to the letter.
The former OYSIEC member expressed appreciation to the governor for the opportunity to serve on the state’s electoral management body, describing his experience as worthwhile.
He, however, did not disclose any reason for his decision to leave the commission.
Falana’s resignation came on the same day the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon. Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo, and the governor’s Special Adviser on Budget, Hon. Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke, also tendered their resignation letters.
Ojo, in his letter to the governor through the Secretary to the State Government, announced his resignation with effect from November 2, 2026, while thanking Makinde for the opportunity to serve in his administration.
Oyeleke, a two-term member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and former local government chairman, also stepped down as Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning.
Unlike Falana and Ojo, Oyeleke gave an indication of his reason for leaving, saying he was no longer comfortable with the working environment and could not effectively pursue the aspirations of his people within the administration.
The three resignations add to the recent departures involving political appointees and government officials in Oyo State, amid evolving political relationships ahead of the 2027 general elections.
