The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja; and the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Ghandi Olaoye, were among prominent traditional rulers who converged on Ibadan on Wednesday for the commissioning of CapitalSage Holdings’ global headquarters.

The event, which also marked the company’s 10th anniversary, attracted the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi, investors, financial partners, captains of industry and top Oyo State government officials.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who commissioned the headquarters, used the occasion to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurship and private-sector investment, saying Ibadan could compete with Lagos in attracting major businesses.

In a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Makinde said natural resources alone could not guarantee prosperity without entrepreneurship, skills, knowledge and increased production.

He congratulated CapitalSage Holdings on building a conglomerate comprising about 20 companies, describing the establishment of its global headquarters in Ibadan as evidence of the city’s capacity to host major business operations and attract investment.

“For many years, people viewed Oyo State as playing second fiddle to Lagos in terms of business and investment. Today, we are proving that Oyo State can stand shoulder to shoulder with any state in the federation in attracting investment and supporting enterprise,” the governor said.

Makinde assured the company and other investors of continued government support through security, investment facilitation and other legitimate interventions aimed at helping businesses grow.

He also cited the state government’s support for industrial projects, including a brown sugar factory and a sorbitol factory, saying his administration would continue to encourage investments capable of creating jobs and expanding economic opportunities.

Founder and Group Managing Director of CapitalSage Holdings, John Alamu, commended the governor for providing an enabling environment that helped the company grow from a small enterprise in Oyo State into a diversified business group headquartered in Ibadan.

Alamu pledged the company’s continued commitment to expanding its businesses, developing its workforce, strengthening partnerships and delivering greater value to customers.
