“Most of the interviews we’ve seen you have been on platforms that my generation don’t watch,” Bae U said.
He said young Nigerians were interested in investing in Dangote’s company and wanted him to reach a wider audience through platforms they regularly watch.
“I’m not saying you should sack your media team. No, but you know, when you finish,” he said before asking when the businessman would appear on his show.
Dangote agreed that younger Nigerians were an important audience for him to engage, describing them as the future.
“Honestly, the future that we have is actually you, the youth. We, our own generation, really, we have not really done very well for Nigeria and also for Africa. That’s the truth,” he said.
The businessman said older Nigerians needed to share their experiences with younger people and have conversations about the country’s development.
“So we need to sit down with some of you and discuss our own experience with you,” he added.
Dangote also spoke about his willingness to take photographs with members of the public, recalling how he and his grandfather once approached prominent personalities for photographs while he was younger.
He said the experience influenced his decision to oblige people who approach him for pictures despite his status today.
The businessman also dismissed suggestions that a photograph he shared on social media was an attempt to ask God for more blessings.
“I wasn’t begging for anything. What I was saying, I was just saying that, God, you have overblessed me,” he said.
Dangote eventually accepted the invitation to Curiosity Made Me Ask, promising to participate in an open conversation about his journey.
“We will come,” he said.
He added that he wanted young people to have the opportunity to ask questions about how he built his business and achieved his success.
Dangote’s acceptance comes as Curiosity Made Me Ask continues to attract prominent Nigerians from different fields.
The show recently featured former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who became the first former Nigerian president to appear on the programme. The September 19 episode generated attention for its unusual pairing of the former president with the comedian and host.
Isbae U has also interviewed veteran actor Pete Edochie, whom he previously admitted he was nervous about interviewing because of the actor’s age and status. Other guests have included Jide Kosoko, Yemi Solade, Femi Branch, Kate Henshaw, Teni, Bella Shmurda, Bisola Aiyeola, KieKie, Bobrisky, Tacha and Charly Boy.
The show was inspired by American comedian Zach Galifianakis’ interview series Between Two Ferns. Isbae U said he created Curiosity Made Me Ask to show audiences another side of celebrities they may not have seen before.
His recent episodes have continued to feature prominent personalities, including actor Ramsey Nouah, who appeared on the programme in October.
Dangote’s proposed appearance would mark a move beyond the entertainment figures who have largely featured on the programme and bring one of Nigeria’s most prominent businessmen into Isbae U’s informal interview format.
