The Oyo State Government on Tuesday through its Taskforce, kick-started the enforcement against private estate developers operating contrary to the approved regulations on the issue of private estate development in the State.

The Commissioner for Lands Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Akin  Funmilayo  disclosed this during the enforcement operation held along Akinyele – Iseyin axis

Hon. Akin Funmilayo stressed that the increase in  the number of Private Estate Developers undertaking site clearing and construction activities without requisite approvals from the Ministry is alarming. Adding that this unauthorized development poses significant risks to orderly urban growth, environmental safety and the implementation of the State’s Physical Development policies.

He further  maintained that all the Estate Developers are not known to Oyo State Government and do not  have any traceable address  except on Radio with series of complaints of illegal transactions which had been traced to these unregistered Estate Developers hence their activities needs to be regulated in the public interest and to prevent crisis relating to land grabbing.

The Hon. Commissioner explained that  the enforcement exercise will help to  curb these indiscriminate developments and ascert the Ministry ‘s authority in regulating land use and Urban development within the state.

The Commissioner  advised  the affected private estate owners/developers to regularise their Title/Planning Approvals with the State Government within the next 3 days of the service of the Contravention Notice to avoid enforcement of Town and County Planning Laws and Regulations.

All the Estate Developers are advised to relate with the Office of Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development for further information, clarifications and directives.
