A mother’s attempt to breastfeed her six-month-old son before dawn turned into a nightmare when she discovered that the baby had disappeared from beside her in their home in Erunmu, Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The child, Faaiz, reportedly went missing on September 16 while sleeping beside his mother, Asimau Olasunkanmi, who said she had no idea how anyone entered the house and took him away.
Olasunkanmi, speaking with The PUNCH, said she woke up to breastfeed the infant but could not find him where he had been sleeping.
A search of the house yielded no result until one of her other children, who had been sleeping close to a window, noticed that the net covering it had been cut.
The mother suspected that the person who took Faaiz might have entered through the window, which was not fitted with burglary-proof bars.
She said she had been in the house with her three children and did not know when anyone gained access to the building. The residence also had no perimeter fence.
Since the incident, the family has been left searching for answers, with the mother appealing to security agencies and members of the public to help find her son.
The child’s father, Taiwo Isiak, said the family reported the incident at the Ogungbade Police Station before the case was transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Dugbe, Ibadan.
Isiak expressed concern over what he described as a lack of recent communication from investigators, saying the family had continued efforts to locate the baby.
He said the last information given to them by the police was that the investigation was ongoing.
A family friend, Akinyode Waliyulah, also confirmed that the matter had been reported to the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Waliyulah said the window suspected to have been used by the abductors had no burglary-proof bars, adding that the family remained hopeful that Faaiz would be found and returned safely.
For the family, the search for the six-month-old continues, as they appeal for any information that could help establish his whereabouts.
