Nigeria has recorded two additional suspected cases of Ebola virus disease, with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) tracking 53 primary contacts linked to the latest development.

The Director-General of the NCDC, Jide Idris, disclosed the figures during a press briefing in Abuja on Sunday, as the agency continued monitoring the suspected cases and tracing people who may have been exposed to the virus.

The latest report comes amid heightened attention to the Ebola situation, with health authorities working to establish the circumstances surrounding the suspected infections and identify individuals who may require monitoring.

However, details of the locations of the two suspected cases, the conditions of the individuals involved and how they were identified were not immediately available.

The NCDC is expected to provide further information as its response continues.

More details to follow.
