Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, has formally resigned from his position, effective Monday.

In a resignation letter addressed to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Olaniyan stated that his decision was necessitated by legal requirements mandating political appointees with electoral ambitions to step down before participating in party primaries.

The former deputy governor of Oyo state expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing his tenure as both an honour and a privilege.

He also acknowledged the cooperation of council members and the management of the institution during his time in office.

As part of the transition process, Olaniyan recommended Barrister (Mrs.) Inime Aguma as Acting Chairman of the Governing Council. He cited her competence, dedication, and familiarity with the institution’s operations as key reasons for the endorsement.

The resignation letter has been officially received and documented, bearing a “RECEIVED” stamp from the Office of the Registrar of the college, dated March 23, 2026, confirming its formal submission.
